Relieving allergies with carpet

Allergies...UGH!!! For many known and unknown reasons, it seems we humans are plagued by allergies more than ever before. Sometimes we get concerned teachers or parents asking us if KidCarpet.com rugs are hypoallergenic and the answer is a resounding YES!

First, let's discuss why rugs and carpets are better for allergy control. As you know, pollen, dust and other allergens are found circulating in the air. These allergens are breathed in and when they come in contact with us in our nasal passages, well you know the rest of that story. Itchy, sore, snotty times lie ahead. Bare floors do not trap allergens like a rug or carpeting can, so they can be found airborne much more in places without rugs and carpet. If a floor has a carpet and it is vacuumed regularly, the allergens which are trapped in the carpet fibers are not only taken out of the air circulation, but are cleaned away with each vacuuming.

Back to hypoallergenic...what exactly does that mean? It means that our rugs are relatively unlikely to cause an allergic reaction. This because they are made of 100% Nylon. Nylon is the most effective allergy-controlling carpet fiber and it is the same fiber that much of our clothing is made of these days. The fiber is man made so it naturally repels allergens and creates an inhospitable environment for allergens and organisms to thrive. For example, mold has nothing organic to feed on and pollen dries out.  Also, the pile is a dense and low height, which leaves little room for pollen and other allergens to nestle into and hide.

Hopefully this post has alleviated any concerns regarding the use of KidCarpet.com rugs for kids with allergies. The good news is that you not only can have a rug in your classroom, day care or nursery, but you should have one! Happy shopping!
