With a classroom rug, my students have a richer learning environment.  There are many times a day that we do various activities on the rug such as an individual, partner or group work.  It is optimal for the students to have flexible seating for varied learning environment. The students are able to spread out during independent reading and work on group projects.  Each students has an assigned spot during mini lesson and whole group instructions. My students can concentrate better while sitting on the rug for reading out loud and Writing Workshops.  A classroom rug creates more space to collaborate, analyze, apply, and evaluate their new knowledge.
